Glasgow city centre is full of energy and contrasts, with a vast array of cultural and historical highlights and a vibrant night scene. The Avis Glasgow city centre car hire branch is conveniently located only a five-minute walk from the city centre and Glasgow's main shopping district so you can make the most of this lively city and its surroundings.
Avis offers a diverse fleet of cars, so whether you’re looking for a compact city ride, family sized saloon or a luxury vehicle, we can accommodate your needs. We also aim to make your life a little bit easier with extras such as child seats, GPS, the option to include additional drivers, and more.
The health and safety of our customers is also our number one priority. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we have introduced additional safety protocols that adhere to WHO guidelines. These include full-scale sanitisation of cars with special attention paid to areas common to touch such as door handles, controls and steering wheels, a fully contactless car rental experience and flexible cancellation policies.
Returning your hire car to Avis Glasgow City Centre
Avis Glasgow is located on the South street: turn on to Bromilaw then turn right at the first set of traffic lights and follow the road on to the top then turn left on to Argyle street.
If you are returning your rental car out of hours, please park outside the branch and leave the keys in the drop box located by the entrance gate.
Glasgow city centre has a thriving music scene and some of the most imaginative museums and galleries in Britain. There's Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, housing one of Europe's great art collections, or the much-vaunted Burrell Collection, one man's collection of more than 9,000 objects, displayed in a beautiful woodland setting to the city's south.
On Glasgow Harbour, a Clyde-built Tall Ship is berthed beside the Riverside (transport) Museum. On-ship displays recreate shipboard life during its heyday in 1896, while inside the museum whole streets have been recreated from Glasgow's past.
From gothic Glasgow Cathedral hike around the Central Necropolis hillside graveyard nearby: in fine weather the views are wonderful, but the elaborate Victorian tombs are intriguing come rain or shine.
Take to the Style Mile for designer stores and boutique oddities. Visit the nearby Glasgow School of Art’s shop on Dalhousie Street and purchase a knickknack from a designer of the future. Make room for tea with a side of shortbread at the renowned Willow Tea Rooms.
Firth of Clyde
With a hire car to hand, the Clyde valley, Argyll sea lochs and the old shipbuilding centres on the Clyde estuary are all within easy reach of Glasgow. Steer around attractive coastal peninsulas or ferry out onto craggy islands. One of the most accessible islands, Bute, is a 2.5-hour drive from the city. The compact island is all rolling hills, sandy beaches and heather-covered moorlands – making it a pleasant escape for cyclists, walkers and wildlife spotters.
Bannockburn
From Glasgow, it’s a 30-minute jaunt north-east to one of Scotland’s most important heritage sites. Bannockburn saw the pivotal defeat of the English army by Robert the Bruce in 1314. A new visitor experience re-enacts the battle in 3D.
Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park
An hour’s drive north-west from the city takes trippers to Loch Lomond and the Trossach mountains. Discover 220 miles of mountains, glens, woodlands and lochs where 25 per cent of the UK’s threatened bird, animal and plant species call home. Fancy a climb? Forty summits in the park top 750 metres.
